Grove Hill was founded in 1846 by entrepreneur, plant collector and horticulturalist Charles Giles. The property remains owned by the Giles family to this day. Located near Norton Summit in the Adelaide Hills, the property spans a large secluded valley with many steep hills and gullies.

Our wines come from our dry grown, low yielding vineyard established in 1988. The vineyard is very close planted with a vine density of about 8,500 vines per hectare. All pruning, hedging and picking is done by hand. Made in a traditional style, the resulting wines are powerful yet refined.

Grove Hill
Chardonnay 2017

Our Chardonnay is made using whole bunch basket pressing, wild yeast and extended ageing in French oak barrels before being bottled at the property without fining or filtration.

We think this is our finest Chardonnay released to date. Instantly recognisable as a ‘Grove Hill’, the wine is very well balanced and integrated yet still powerful. Definitely a serious wine, but so deliciously drinkable and harmonious.

Grove Hill
'Rubra' Pinot Noir 2016

Our Rubra Pinot Noir comes from a steep section of our dry grown vineyard. Made using 100% whole bunch fermentation, basket pressing, wild yeast and ageing in French oak barrels, the Rubra is bottled at the property without fining or filtration.

The Rubra is a refined yet powerful wine with poise and purity of fruit. The 2016 vintage is deep ruby red in colour. There are aromas of roses, herbs, violets, some spice and a hint of fennel. On the palate there are classic Pinot Noir flavours and tannins. Approachable now, this wine will also reward patient cellaring.
